WebDAV is similar to FTP. You can use it to put files into and take files out of the filespace for a course within ULearn instead of using the File Manager to upload and download files. If you are uploading files regularly, then it's much easier to use WebDAV than the File Manager. However, there can sometimes be problems getting WebDAV set up and we have experienced problems with links within ULearn being broken when we have used WebDAV on a Mac.
Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver has a WebDAV client so if you use Dreamweaver to create webpages then you can synchronise in Dreamweaver with the ULearn filespace. However this only appears to work if you have admin rights over your computer. If you are familiar with using synchronisation in Dreamweaver, here are instructions for setting this up.
If you would like to use this, but are not familiar with using synchronisation or the site manager in Dreamweaver, speak to me.
WebDAV client for Windows/Mac
These enable you to drag and drop files into ULearn. Here are instructions for setting this up. This appears not to work if your course name contains certain characters (such as hyphens) however.
WebDAV clients for Unix/Linux
There is a command-line WebDAV client called cadaver. I haven't tried using this yet, but am happy to investigate further if anybody is interested.
